A telehealth platform for rehabilitation monitoring of post-traumatic fine motor disorders

A cloud-based telehealth system used in the rehabilitation process of post-traumatic motor disorders was developed by performing health monitoring and examining data.

The Problem

The new digital age is expanding the possibilities for telehealth services, medical treatment, and recovery in a unique way. Smart solutions and the Internet can, regardless of location, enable rehabilitation and bring forward mutual doctor-patient communication. Undisrupted doctor-patient communication enables continuous supervision of the patient’s rehabilitation process and increases motivation. With the help of smart devices, doctors now can monitor, track, and advice their patients.

These gadgets can be used without supervision and within the home environment. Scientific evidence, such as various studies show that rehabilitation at home has a lot of advantages. By using the aforementioned device, doctors are able to easily examine, analyze, and generalize the patient’s results and progress, achieving a more effective process of medical treatment.

The Solution - A Cloud-Based Telehealth Platform

Indeform cooperated with rehabilitation centers in Lithuania as well as Kaunas Academy of Arts to conduct research and develop a telehealth rehabilitation platform for post-stroke or post-traumatic hand motor disorder treatment. Such disorders are common after heart attacks, injuries, skin burns, or other accidents that afflict hand movement.

The product is intended to be used by an occupational therapist and the patient. Key product features include remote rehabilitation and communication, fast navigation, a possibility of higher resolution, information security, timing, dynamics, evaluation, and so on. We developed a cloud-based telehealth rehabilitation system for post-traumatic small motor disorders with process monitoring and statistical analysis. These features include the ability to remotely monitor the patient’s treatment and process, assess the patient’s condition, adjust the exercise difficulty levels, add supplementary exercises and assess their effectiveness when compared to conventional treatment.

All data is transmitted through the Internet connection and automatically stored in a database and the software should be installed during a personal visit. Personal data is available only to the doctor and the patient, which is ensured by providing a user name and a password. The doctor will automatically have access to the advisory report analyzed and generalized from various angles with the results presented in a few different styles.

Conclusion

We are happy to be moving forward with medical institutions and investors on our current goal to develop and further improve the cloud-based solutions for the rehabilitation, healthcare, and telehealth industry. We believe that cloud-based computing and cognitive solutions are the future of healthcare innovations, research, and intelligent medical systems.
